PROJECT: REPLACE 3 HALON FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS WITH NOVEC 1230 (CLEAN AGENT) SYSTEMS IN THE GNWT’S COMPUTER CENTRE

The project required replacing all the steel piping, panel & devices, and storage tanks (total 2000 lbs) for 3 systems in the computer centre located in the Hodgson Building.

Steel piping up to 3” diameter was replaced above the ceiling and below the floor throughout the computer centre without disturbing on-going computer operations.

The contract document’s requirement for dust containment and no interruption to computer operations was achieved with no complaints from the operators.

HINT: When specifying a new or replacement system, we suggest you include a requirement for room integrity testing, as well as work that may be required to seal the room to meet the requirements or the AHJ, the manufacturer and of the requirements of NFPA 2001.

MAINTENANCE & CERTIFICATION: The NFPA requires chemical fire suppression systems to be inspected semi annually by qualified technicians certified by the manufacturer.
